EyeWiMAX - Next Generation Connectivity

We have developed a number of market leading products to sit on our Next Generation Network capable of delivering the applications of the future. This is connectivity which allows information to flow quicker, safer and cheaper. This is connectivity that truly enables your business and will adapt to its growth at every stage

IPVPN:

EyeWiMAX already has a market leading IPVPN product - IPVPN QoS. We provide service in the UK and to 153 countries globally. The service is available fully managed or as "wires only", and comes with five levels of QoS as standard. We are able to offer a range of access types such as EyeWiMAX fibre, leased line, Ethernet, radio and xDSL. Customers looking for an efficient way to connect a few, or hundreds, of sites with growing data needs find IPVPN QoS an ideal solution.

We have extended our IPVPN QoS product onto our Next Generation MSP infrastructure. This means all the existing standard features - such as QoS and multicast - are available, alongside the new features.

NO RIP AND REPLACE:

Existing customers will not have to migrate their entire estates to the MSP to access new services and features. Customers move at their own pace and QoS models remain the same.

NEW ACCESS FEATURES:

•    SDSL - from over 802 UK-wide MSAN exchanges, EYEWIMAX can offer up to 2Mbit/s symmetric connectivity to IPVPN. This service in un-contended and comes with up to five QoS as standard. It is ideal for the small or medium branch, where you may be thinking of deploying VoIP or other applications. Equally it offers another bandwidth option as back up to a site main link. SDSL is available in the UK only.

•    Gig-E - IPVPN Ethernet access that does what it says on the tin. EYEWIMAX Gig-E access to IPVPN scales to a full gigabit and demands no special network build. We believe that many of our competitors will struggle to do this, while the EYEWIMAX Product is "off the shelf". You can buy in increments and scale up as you need the bandwidth. It is an ideal solution for datacentre or HQ connectivity. Full-rate Gig-E is available in the UK today, with fractional Gig-E services offered throughout Asia. It's anticipated that the rollout of MSP-based services in India and the Middle East will tae place later this year.

Next Generation Ethernet

EYEWIMAX is able to offer two brand new Ethernet services over our Multi Service Platform which are designed to meet the demands of customers who require high-speed flexible connectivity. Such services are ideal for customers who typically take a DIY approach to their network build or who wish to maintain control of their IP service.

ETHERNET WIRELINE:

Ethernet Wireline is a Virtual Private Wire Service (VPWS) also termed E-LINE. It offers point-to-point and point-to-multi-point connectivity. This service meets the needs of customers who require high-speed connectivity between their core sites, or want a standardised access solution, which can grow with their needs. Ethernet Wireline offers ultimate flexibility both technically and commercially.

ETHERNET VPN:

Ethernet VPN is a Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) also termed an E-LAN service. It offers any-to-any connectivity for up to 50 sites. The service acts a giant virtual switch and is perfect for extending customer LANs over WAN distances simply and effectively. Since the service is entirely IP transparent, customers can overlay their own IPVPN over this service by adding IP router equipment at each site. Alternatively the service can route and prioritise traffic at layer two using three classes of service.

Both services can serve customer sites in mainland UK and Northern Ireland today. We've got expansions planned on our roadmap, which will see these services serving India, the United States and the Middle East later this year.

A LITTLE MORE DETAIL:

Ethernet Wireline (VPWS) and Ethernet VPN (VPLS) are brother and sister products and the "off the shelf" features described below are common to both.

•    Scalable, granular bandwidth: Both services can be purchased in increments of 1mb, between 1Mbit/s and 1Gbit/s. This gives customers the ability to build services for the future but they do not have to pay for all that future capability now.

Two flavours of bandwidth service are available.

•    Flex only bandwidth - this provides "always on" bandwidth. Connectivity behaves like a dedicated private line. Customers can scale their bandwidth to suit their critical traffic needs.

•    Flex and Burst bandwidth - this is an extension to the above service. In addition to "always on bandwidth", we provide an additional facility to "burst" above this bandwidth. This meets the needs of those customers who have a growing bandwidth usage and therefore need room to grow. This service is designed to cover spikes in traffic where such traffic is not critical because EYEWIMAX cannot guarantee that Burst bandwidth will always be available.

•    Three Classes of Service are available enabling customers to prioritise their traffic flows over their connection. This means customers can de-risk their packet flows by ensuring their critical bandwidth traffic, such as VOIP, is placed in a high priority class. This ensures that in the unlikely event of network congestion this traffic will be prioritised first.

•    Where customers have a high number of logical services between sites they can employ Virtual LAN (VLAN) tagging to differentiate those services. EYEWIMAX can differentiate individual logical services by acting on customer VLAN tagging policy or just pass them transparently.

MULTI SERVICE ACCESS:

Our new Ethernet services are the first to take advantage of the MSP multi-service edge and are available over the same access connection, which can provide a more economic way of delivering these kinds of connectivity than separate local loops. This connection runs between a customer site and the MSP.

The Multi Service connection is available at speeds of 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s or Gbit/s. As mentioned earlier, our roadmap will also introduce a 10Gbit/s option later this year.

Our new Ethernet services (including Ethernet access to IPVPN) are terminated using an intelligent network termination device. This provides a clear view of the performance of connection between customer site and the Multi Service Platform irrespective of the method of connectivity or the party providing such connectivity.
Currently, we can provide performance reporting on the network termination device. We've got end-to-end customer Ethernet service reporting on our roadmap and expect this to be available late in the year.

FLEXIBILITY AND CHOICE:

EyeWiMAX's new Next Generation Ethernet services - Ethernet Wireline and Ethernet VPN - take flexibility and choice to a new level. This provides customers with the opportunity to grow at their own pace, without interruption to their service as their needs evolve
Next Generation Provisioning

Telcommunication companies traditionally deliver circuits as part of an ordered, sequential process. Transmission teams build their bit and hand over to IP and service teams. These, in turn, hand over to tail ordering, who then forward the work to customer equipment teams. While structured, this process creates delays and uncertainty.

What's more, since the teams each have SLAs with each other, they tend to use the entire SLA before handing the baton over. And because the process works in silos, it means problems might not be spotted until quite some way down the chain. Telcos then call the customer midway through the delivery process to tell them that their order will be late.
It's not a great experience for customers and it's not one we support.
Wave goodbye to a sequential process...

That's why we've re-engineered our process completely. We now have a team of 80+ multi-skilled engineers that plan the circuits up-front. It gives you three key benefits.

•    We are now able to provide a delivery date and price for a circuit (bandwidth, Ethernet or IPVPN) in three days for 2mb and lower speeds, and seven days for speeds greater than 10mb. Because we plan the circuit up-front, we are effectively able to offer every customer a bespoke lead time.

•    We've cut out all the inter-team SLA fat and compacted the lead time for you.

•    We can spot up-front if we need to order extra capacity or new parts. And let you know within three or seven days what the lead-time will be so you choose how they want to proceed.

Just occasionally, there are some exceptions where we cannot hit our three / seven day promise. This is due generally to complex stuff like dual diversity, where we need to work with you to design the circuit.
Even so, we know this new way of doing things works. We've seen a 20-30% reduction in lead times. For example, the delivery of 2mb circuits has traditionally taken between 40-45 working days. Today we have reduced that to 30 working days with the fastest delivery completed in just six working days.
